I don’t know what it was, but we just ‘clicked’
How is it that we can meet a million people in our lifetimes… and only “click” with a small fraction of them?
They become our best friends, our lovers, our spouses, our business partners. Their presence in our lives is pure BLISS.
But what is that magical energy that makes us connect with one person… while other people blend anonymously into the mosaic of humanity?
Recent “click” moments have inspired me to analyze this, one of life’s most amazing phenomenons. I should know the answer, since I ghost-wrote a book called Click: 10 Truths for Building Extraordinary Relationships, for networking guru George Fraser. It’s coming out in January from McGraw Hill, and will explain to the world how and why we “click” with folks.
After writing that book, and interviewing people across the country about how they make deep connections with friends, spouses and colleagues, I have a sociological understanding of this concept.
Yet every time it happens in “real life” for me, I am amazed.
Because it does feel like magic. It feels like the infinite intelligence of the universe synchronized with perfect grace to orchestrate a “chance” meeting — at an exact date and time — between you and this special person. You may have been in line at Starbucks… or sitting alone at a reception… or showcasing your professional talents… when —
BAM!
Along comes a man or a woman who sets your heart a-flutter… or articulates your unique vision for your dream business… or reflects YOU so similarly that they instantly become your BFF (best friend forever).
Instantly, you feel a visceral bond that defies verbal definition. You just FEEL it. You just KNOW — this is a person who is meant to be in my life for an important reason. Maybe for a little while, maybe forever. But this person and I share a vibe that vibrates down to our souls. Their presence is a sensory extravaganza that inspires passion, creativity, hope, peace and prosperity.
And that is the essence of life.
So click on, my friends! And celebrate the divine bonds that bind us in love and laughter.
